I just realised after watching the best Dr who companion separation episode that Dr who is a representation of life now. Always running away from something, from reality, never knowing where to go but always ending up in places and situations that can only be concocted by the most demented of minds. Finding one or two companions, people you trust with your life, and they are almost never your family, but they become family, quickly and surely. And you lose them, inevitably lose them and that leaves a hole, numerous holes, that never goes away. You feel like life is an eternity, never dying but always expecting death. The only way to survive the sadness is if you laugh at how sad we are. That's what the doctor does, that's what we do. The problem is, it never stops being sad
